- Born on September 23, 1890 in Montreal, Dr. Alton Goldbloom was a prominent paediatrician in Canada. He was married to Annie Ballon and had two children - Dr. Richard and Dr. Victor, and six grandchildren. He obtained his medical degree from McGill University in 1916. He held many posts in the medical community, including Physician in Chief at the Children's Memorial Hospital, Montreal, Chief of Paediatrics at the Jewish General Hospital, and Professor of Paediatrics and Chairman of the Department at McGill University. He obtained many honourary degrees as well. He was a president of the Canadian Jewish Historical Society, and had a deep interest in the Jewish religion. He wrote several books, The Care of the Child, Small Patients, and an autobiography. He died on February 3, 1968.
