"An organist for 35 years at the Church of Messiah in Montréal, G.M. Brewer also worked as an accompanist, recitalist (piano and organ), professor (Conservatoire de musique du Québec à Montréal), examiner (Dominion College of Music), and composer. The knowledge he acquired on his numerous travels also made him a celebrated lecturer (exotic music, visual arts, philosophy, etc.). His compositions include choral works, pieces for piano, and melodies." - Music Archives at the National Library of Canada
Brewer was also the organist and choir director of Temple Emanu-el from 1914-1928.
