- Inge (Cammnitzer) (b. June 30,1922) in Hannover, Germany to Max (b.July 11, 1884) and Else (Hiller) Cammnitzer (b. may 1, 1894). In 1989 Inge Hoffman wrote a history of her life since birth in Germany in 1922. It included the history of her family so that “my children and their children may know where their roots come from." She then goes on to say, "Later I included the history of my husband’s family and brought the whole story up to date till our 50th wedding anniversary in 1996". Inge left Germany in January 1939 at the age of 15 on a Kindertransport to England that transported children under the age of 18 out of Germany. Her sister, Ellen, followed six weeks later. At the age of 19, she joined the British Army in May 1941. She met her husband, Al Hoffman (Israel Hoffman) (b.May 20, 1919) in 1943 while he was serving as a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was a member of the 407 squadron, RCAF. He flew with Coastal Command, Royal Canadian Air Force, chasing enemy submarines from 1940 to 1945. While Al was continuing his education in Canada after World War II, Inge and Israel became engaged by telegram and were married on May 1, 1946 and immigrated to Canada in the same year. Al Hoffman obtained his doctorate from the University of Toronto in Analytical Chemistry in 1955 and the family returned to Ottawa where he worked at the Experimental Farm, and later at the National Research Council. In addition to keeping a home, Inge was an active volunteer with the Canadian Toy Testing Council, the Agudath Israel Sisterhood, and a volunteer teacher at the Museum of Civilization since 1989. Both Inge and Al belonged to the Jewish Philosophy and Ethics Study Group and attended and supported a variety of activities within the Ottawa Jewish community. Al and Inge Hoffman had two children, twins, Linda (b. May 24, 1977) (m. Dave Potter in 1982) and Barry (m. Liz Nutter, June 12, 1951). Linda and Dave had two children, Kimberly (b. January 2, 1985) and Julia (b. May 19, 1987). Barry and Liz had one daughter, Andrea (b. July 7, 1980).
