Dr. Norman Morton Wolfish

On July 18 2022, Norman Morton Wolfish passed away peacefully at the age of 86 with his family by his side. Son of William and Hilda Wolfish, he is survived by Elaine Wolfish, his wife of 59 years, children Karen Wolfish (Shawn Aaron), Laila Wex (Richard Wex), and Daniel Wolfish (Ruta Fluxgold), seven grandchildren Madelyn and Bailey Aaron, Josh and Kyra Wex, and Nava, Liat, and Ravi Wolfish. He was predeceased by his older brother, Martin Gimple Wolfish, and his older sister Malca Wechsler. Norman was born in Toronto and attended medical school at the University of Toronto and completed his residency in pediatrics at the University of Toronto and a fellowship in pediatric nephrology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He was a dedicated pediatric nephrologist, first at the Ottawa General Hospital starting in 1968, then at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario since 1974 before retiring in 2007. He received the Queen’s Jubilee medal for his advocacy for children who suffered abuse and for people wrestling with drug addiction. In his spare time he was an avid golfer, sailor, and a member of the 6:00 am gym rat club at the local Soloway Jewish Community Centre.
Graveside service will take place at 3:00 pm on Tuesday, July 19, 2022 at the Jewish Memorial Gardens- Osgoode Cemetery, 6549 Herberts Corners Rd, Greely, ON. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream of the service will be available, here: Foveo Guest Stream
Shiva will be observed at Daniel Wolfish and Ruta Fluxgold's home: 233 Centrepointe Drive with visitation at the following times: Tuesday, following the service. Wednesday and Thursday from 2:00-4:00pm and 7:00-9:00pm with services at 7:00pm. Friday from 2:00-4:00pm, and Sunday from 1:00-3:00pm.
