- Israel Hartman (b. Radom, Poland1886 - d. Ottawa, April 12, 1958) was son of Mr. and Mrs. Moses Hartman. Israel was educated in Poland and England and came to Canada in 1921.He operated a tailoring shop on Wellington street in the West End of Ottawa until his retirement. Israel was a member of Agudath Israel Synagogue and the Hebrew Sick Benefit Society. His first Rachel (Malach) Hartman, passed away in 1953. Israel then married Tillie (Solman) Hartman in 1994. His children include: Sydney Hartman, Joseph Hartman and Jack Hartman, all of Ottawa; Roy Hartman, Abraham Hartman and Harry Hartman, of Montreal. His only daughter Sally Hartman (also seen as Sarah Hartman) of Montreal, married Stephen Silverman. Israel passed away at age 72. HIs funeral service was conducted by Rabbi Samuel M. Burstein in the King Edward avenue chapel, and he was buried in the Jewish cemetery on Metcalfe Road.
