History / Biographical
Morris Oberman (1900-1987) fought in the Jewish Legion in Palestine. He was later honoured by Israel for his role in helping it attain its independence. Judith (1902-2000), née Braslavsky, was active in Pioneer Women. Both were leaders in the Montreal Labour Zionist Movement. Judith's brothers were well-known scholars: Moshe Braslavsky was a historian, while Yosef was a geographer of the land of Israel.

History / Biographical
Judith Braslavsky Oberman was born in the Ukraine in 1902. She was four years old when her father decided in 1905 to immigrate with his wife and five children to the land of Israel. She spent the first 20-plus years of her life there going to school, working and speaking Hebrew like a native. After marrying Morris, the two left for Canada for economic reasons. But for the rest of their life they remained steadfast in their love of and dedication to the Zionist cause and the Hebrew language
