- Lieutenant Joseph Levison, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, a Canadian Army public relations officer attached to the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, was killed when a jeep in which he was a passenger drove over a Communist road mine. Lieutenant Levison was well known and active in Jewish circles in Halifax. He was a Dalhousie University student when he enlisted in the special force, which later became the 25th Canadian Brigade. He had been in Korea since December 1950. (Source: CJC publication IOI-PR, June 8, 1951) It is believed that Lieutenant Levison was the only Jewish casualty of the Korean War. Lieutenant Levison is commemorated on the Nova Scotia Korea War Memorial with his fellow Nova Scotians who lost their lives in the Korean War. The memorial is located at Pleasant and Parade Streets in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. It was unveiled and dedicated in a ceremony on August 16, 2003.

- Flight Sergeant Joseph Rabiner of Montreal, Quebec, who was reported missing after air operations on March 31, 1945, was subsequently presumably dead for official purposes. He was presumably killed when the Mosquito aircraft of which he was navigator-observer was shot down during a raid over Berlin. Flight Sergeant Rabiner wrote home after nearing completion of his tour of operations. “I’m on my way to completing a tour and if all goes well, I should be home by the end of July. Even though we have a terrific number of trips to do this job, they go by pretty fast. We fly in anything; we even have a song, ‘I walk alone — I fly alone.’ When the heavies are grounded and dining, you’ll find us in the clouds climbing.”
