- History / Biographical
- Dina Fraiden (Frieden) Galkin was born in 1890[?] in Tzarei, Russia and died in Montreal in 1988. Galkin arrived in Montreal in 1902. Galkin married Isaac Galkin (b. 1884, near Vitebsk, Russia, arrived in Montreal in 1904) in Montreal in 1908. She had two children, Shmuel Mordechai, a baseball pitcher potentially scouted by the Montreal Royals, and Lillian Galkin Rosen (Faigel Laike). Galkin wrote poetry in Yiddish, which was translated into English by a friend, Pearl Krupit.
