OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, April 8, 1999 Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday April 6th 1999, Ida Sarah (Guss) Fransblow, wife of fifty seven years to Max Fransblow of Saint John, N.B. Born in Saint John, Ida was a member of the Congregation Shaarei Zedek, a past member of the Shaarei Zedek Sisterhood, a lifetime member of Hadassah, a volunteer for the N.B. Museum, a Brown Owl and Girl Guide leader; being very active in the scouting movement, as well as canvassing for the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation. Surviving besides her husband Max are her son, Jerome of Abbotsford, B.C.; two daughters, June and her special friend Michael Korenberg of Kingston, Ontario, Marlene and her husband Howard Slepkov of St. Catharine’s, Ontario; two grandchildren Noah and Rebecca and many loving nieces and nephews. Ida was predeceased by five brothers, Ben, Joe, Bill, Abe and Jack. She was the last surviving child of the late Morris and Cecilia (Hains) Guss. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9, 1999 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, (506-634-7424). The interment will follow in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum or to the charity of the Donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, March 10, 1931, microfilm # 27 Chatham - March 9 - The death of Jacob Fransblow, Centre Street, occurred Thursday evening after two years' illness of paralysis. His many friends in Chatham and Tracadie, where he conducted a general business for some years, will be sorry to learn of his passing. The late Mr. Fransblow is survived by his wife, two daughters, Katie and Bernetta, at home, and seven sons, Edward and Louis, of Tracadie; Hyman of Montreal, and Harry, William, Max and Joseph, at home. Survived by his wife, two sons, Steven and his wife, Rhonda of Fredericton, and Irving and his wife, Penny of Cote St. Luc, Que., one daughter, Judy Relick and her husband Sidney of Cote St. Luc, Que., two brothers, William of Bathurst, Max of Saint John, two sisters, Bernetta Guss of Saint John, and Kay Cohen of Moncton, N.B., six grandchildren, Lewis Retick, Jason Retick, Steven Evan Fransblow, Lianne Fransblow, Natash Fransbow, and Rachel Fransblow. OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, June 22, 2006 Fransblow, Max - Peacefully, in St. Catharine's, ON, on Tuesday, June 20, 2006 in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of the late Ida (Guss). Dearly loved father of Jerome of Abbotsford, British Colombia, June Mary Fransblow and Michael Karenberg of Kingston, ON and Marlene and her husband Howard Slepkov of St. Catharine's, ON. Cherished and much admired grandfather of Rebecca and Noah Slepkov. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews and their families. He is survived by his sister, Kay Cohen (the late Nathan) of Moncton and his sisters-in-law Sylvia Fransblow of Fredericton, Bernice Fransblow of Vancouver, British Colombia and Rose Guss (the late William) of Saint John. He is predeceased by his brothers, Edward (Rose), Louis, Harry, Hyman, William, his twin brother Joseph, his sister Bernetta Guss (Abe) and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ben and Millie Guss, Jack and Jean Guss and Joseph Guss. Max was the proprietor of Fransblow Grocery in Saint John for many years. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery.
