- OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, August 12, 1946, SB100, p. 158 Joseph L. Goldman Passes Suddenly Succumbing to a sudden heart attack, Joseph Louis Goldman, well known dry goods merchant, died at his home, 26 Wall Street, yesterday and deep sympathy has been extended to those bereaved. Mr. Goldman was 72 years of age and was born in Minsk, Russia. He came to Canada about fifty years ago and after a brief period when he made his home in Salisbury, N.B., he came to Saint John and had been successfully engaging in merchandising here since then. He took an active part in the affairs of the Hebrew Congregation and had membership in the Masonic Order. Besides his wife, Mrs. Minnie Goldman, who had taken a prominent part in the work of the women’s organizations in the city, Mr. Goldman is survived by two sons, A. Percy and Sanford, of Saint John; two daughters, Mrs. Ben Attis, Moncton and Mrs. Hart Isaacs of this city; three grandsons, one granddaughter; three sisters, Mrs. S. Rabkin, Saint John, Mrs. A. Abramsky, Saskatchewan, and Mrs. M. Goldman, Montreal, and one half brother, Edgar Winner, Brookline, Mass. The funeral will take place this afternoon at 2:30 o’clock from Chamberlain’s Funeral Home, 145 King Street East. Interment will be in the Hebrew Cemetery at Fernhill. - OBITUARIES: Daily Telegraph, March 22, 1922 Obituary Mrs. Louis Hurwitz The death of Mrs. Dora Hurwitz, wife of Louis Hurwitz of 25 Long Wharf, occurred suddenly on Monday night about 8 o’clock in the General Public Hospital following an attack of heart failure. She was taken ill about 6 o’clock in the evening and Dr. A.E. Macauley was called. He ordered her taken to the hospital where she died about eight. She was a native of Russia, and was about thirty-nine years of age. Mrs. Hurwitz leaves one son, Azel; one daughter, Annie; three brothers, S. - OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, October 22, 1941, Page 9 The funeral of Harry A. Rabkin, 15-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Rabkin, whose sudden death occurred yesterday following a brief illness, was held this afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from his parents' residence, 55 Summer Street. The service was conducted by Rabbi A. Babb assisted by Rev .M.I. Beshkin. A large number of friends and relatives attended the funeral. There were numerous floral tributes received. Friends acted as pallbearers. Interment was made in the Hebrew plot of Fernhill Cemetery. The Evening Times Globe Wednesday, October 22, 1941, page 13 Vocational Pupil Dies Suddenly Many friends will regret to learn of the death of Harry A. Rabkin, youngest son of Samuel and Zelda Rabkin, 55 Summer Street, which occurred at his home last night after a short illness. He was in his 16th year and was born in this city, having been a pupil at Vocational School and a member of the Judean Troop of Boy Scouts. Surviving besides his parents are one sister, Mrs. Morton Paikowsky, and three brothers Jack, Eli and Harvey, all of this city. Gravestone reference code(s): JM 998.61.136.

- Flying Officer Hyman Rabkin of Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, was reported killed in action on April 16, 1945. He had been listed missing after air operations over Dusseldorf, Germany, on November 2, 1944. Flying Officer Rabkin enlisted in the air force at North Bay in July 1942 and was stationed at the Edmonton Manning Depot, Prince Albert E.F.T.S. Paulson Bombing and Gunnery School, and received his bombardier wing in the Portage la Prairie A.O.S. in November 1943. He proceeded overseas in January 1944.
