OBITUARIES: Saint John Times Globe, March 6, 2001 Goldstein, Samuel D.- The death of Mr. Samuel D. Goldstein, husband of Lillian P. (Meltzer) Goldstein, of Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, occurred on Monday, March 5, 2001, at his residence after a lengthy illness. Born in Montreal, Quebec, he was the son of the late Abraham and Sarah (Cramer) Goldstein. For many years, Samuel had worked for many different local businesses as an electrician. In 1961, he started his own company, Central Electric. He also was responsible for training many electrical apprentices in his younger years. Mr. Goldstein was a member of the Canadian Jewish War Veterans Association, and was also a member of the Shaarei Zedek Synagogue. He enjoyed the horse races, and always had a kind word to say about everyone. He is survived by his wife, Lillian, one daughter, Miriam (Bob) Reder of Calgary, AB, one son, Arthur of Thailand, two grandsons, Jonathan and Marc Reder, both of Calgary, AB, two sisters, Yetta of California and Frances of Calgary, AB, several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Harry Goldstein. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2001 at 3:30 p.m., from Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506) 634-7424). Interment will take place at Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association. Saint John Times Globe Wednesday, March 14, 2001 Funeral Notices The funeral for Mr. Samuel Goldstein, of Paradise Row, Saint John, husband of Lillian (Meltzer) Goldstein, was held on Wednesday, March 7, 2001, from Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, where the service was conducted by Rabbi David Ellis. The eulogy was delivered by Cindy Letts. The honourary pallbearers were Robert Reder, Jonathan Reder, Marc Reder, Dr. Joseph Arditti, Izzy Davis, Max Fransblow, Jerome Fransblow, Norman Hamburg, Ron Levine, Gar Meltzer, Richard Meltzer, Stephen Meltzer, Michael Meltzer, Mendle Meltzer, and David Meltzer. Active pallbearers were Phil Bloom, Billy Koven, Matthew Koven, Dave Elman, Stewart Urdang, Daniel Levine, Ben Smith, and Bruce Washburn. The family received many remembrances to the Canadian Diabetes Association; Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick; and the Canadian Cancer Society. Floral tributes were received.
