OBITUARIES: Saint John Times Globe, August 11, 2000 At the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, N.B., on August 9, 2000 in her 88th year, after a short courageous battle with a difficult illness. Beloved wife of the late Robert I. (Bobby) Green and mother of three loving daughters, Michelle (Arnold) Echenberg, and Phyllis (Morad) Kimia, both of Montreal, Quebec, and Miriam (Warren) Cohen of Fredericton, N.B., caring grandmother of Alan Echenberg, Rachel Echenberg, Dyan Kimia, Rena Kimia, Robert Cohen, and Marcie Cohen, and proud great grandmother of her three great grandchildren. Bella was predeceased by her parents, Sarah and Michael Haitow, two sisters, Bessie Levine Goldfarb and Mary Lewis and a brother Max Haitow. Her passing will leave a huge void in the lives of family and friends. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2000 at 1 p.m. from Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Homes, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B., (506-634-7424). Interment in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate remembrances to the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum or the New Brunswick Lung Association. OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, January 21, 1949, Page 9 Morris Guss Dies At Home In City – Was Widely-known Resident; Active in Bussiness Life; Funeral Held A wide circle of friends learned with regret this morning of the death of Morris Guss, founder of the British Iron and Metal Company, which occurred at an early hour at his residence, 4 Summer Street. He was born in Lithuania, a son of Benjamin and Sarah Guss. He had been a resident of Saint John for 44 years. He was 71 years of age and retired from business some time ago. For more than 40 years he was warden of the Jewish Congregation in Saint John. In recognition of his services he was made the only honorary life member of the board of directors of the congregation. He was an active member of the board of directors of the congregation. He was an active member of the board until his retirement. He was also active in other organizations connected with the synagogue, including charitable bodies and was a member of the Ezra Lodge. Mr. Guss established his business here in 1905. He was a highly respected citizen, of kindly disposition, a charitable and upright gentleman and a man of dignity. Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Max Fransblow of this city, four sons, B. R. Guss, and John Guss, all of Saint John and William of Calgary, nine grandchildren, and several nephews and nieces. Another son, Joseph, who was prominent in the boy scout movement in N.B. died about seven and one half years ago. The funeral was held this afternoon from the synagogue at 4 p.m. Interment was in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Gravestone reference code(s): JM 998.61.199. OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, March 31, 1993 KASHETSKY – At St. Joseph’s Hospital on March 30, 1993, Hyman Kashetsky of 91 Cranston Avenue, Saint John, husband of Lillian (Levine) Kashetsky, son of the late Morris and Esther (Budovitch) Kashetsky; survived by his wife, sister-in-law, Blanche Kashetsky of Saint John, several nieces and nephews, predeceased by a brother Max and sister Pearl Holtzman. Resting at the Castle funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, from where the funeral will be held on Wednesday with service at 3 .m. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. The Evening Times Globe Wednesday, March 31, 1993 Hyman Kashetsky of 91 Cranston Avenue, husband of Lillian (Levine) Kashetsky, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Tuesday. Born in Saint John, he was a son of the late Morris and Esther (Budovitch) Kashetsky. He had been employed in the antique business for 68 years and owned and operated the Antique Centre in Saint John. He traveled widely in connection with his business and his antiques were sent to many parts of the world. He was also an expert in hooked rugs. He lived in Prince Edward Island for 25 years and operated a store in Kensington. In his youth, he was active in boxing. He was a member of the Congregation Shaarei Zedek. Surviving, besides his wife, are his sister-in-law Blanche Kashetsky and several nieces and nephews. His brother Max and his sister Pearl died before him. The funeral will be held today at 3 p.m. at Castle Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street. Burial will be in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Pallbearers were members of the Chevra Kadisha. Donations were received for the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation, including one from Peat Marwick Thorne. OBITUARIES: Daily Telegraph, April 21, 1910, Page 5 Obituary Samuel Nicoll St. Stephen, N.B., April 20 - (Special) - Samuel Nicoll, died here this evening of pneumonia. Mr. Nicoll was a senior member of the firm of Nicoll and Levy, ladies furnishings, Water Street. He was a member of Miriam Lodge, I.O.O.F, of this town and of Canton and Red Men, Calais (Me.). He was thirty years of age and leaves a widow and one brother, Max Nicoll of this town. His father was with him at his death. The body will be taken by early train to St. John, where it will be interred in Fernhill Cemetery. Services will be conducted in St. John by Rabbi Amdur. The Saint John Globe Thursday, April 10, 1910, page 7 Local News Buried Today The remains of Mr. Samuel Nicoll, who died at St. Stephen, arrived to-day on the Boston train.
