- OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, February 19, 1946, SB Series, p.66 Barnett Koven Dies After Short Illness Many friends in the city and province will regret to learn of the death of Barnett Koven, which occurred in Boston on Sunday morning. Mr. Koven had been in failing health for some months and had been seriously ill for two weeks. He is a son of Mrs. Rachel Koven of West Saint John and the late Joseph Koven. Mr. Koven was a resident of Fairville, N.B. where he carried on business as a dry dock merchant. He was involved in community affairs. Surviving are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Floyd Esptein of this city; one son, Jerry Koven, at home; his mother; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Hurtow, Bay Shore, New York and Mrs. H. M. Garson of West Saint John; two brothers, Morris Koven, Coldbrook, N.B. and Sydney Koven, West Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. The body will arrive in Saint John on the Boston train at noon Tuesday and will rest at Chamberlain’s Funeral Home, 145 King Street East, from where the funeral will be held Tuesday afternoon with service at 2:30 o’clock.
