OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, May 5, 1997 Guss – In Toronto, Ontario on May 2, 1997, Mr. Jack Guss of Toronto and formerly of Saint John, husband of the late Jean Frieda (Takiff) Guss. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Cyra (Hans) and Morris Guss. Mr. Guss is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Guss of Montreal and Monica Guss of Los Angeles, one sister Ida Fransblow and her husband Max of Saint John, three sisters-in-law, Mildred, Rose, and Bernetta, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Benjamin, Joseph, William, Abraham, and Philip. The funeral service will be held at 'Hillsley' Funeral Home, 91 Leinster Street (634-1700) on Monday May 5, 1997 at 2 p.m. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Donations to Shaarei Zedek Synagogue or New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Gravestone reference code(s): JM 998.61.439. (Takiff) Guss, beloved wife of Jack, devoted mother of Phyllis and Monica, sister of Frank Takiff of Moncton. The funeral will be held on Thursday at 2:30 p.m., from the Castle Funeral Home, 91 Leinster Street, to Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Shiva or memorial service will be observed daily at 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., at the Keddy Motor Inn, Saint John, suite 317 and 319. In lieu of gifts, contributions may be made to the Cancer Research Fund of the Jewish General Hospital, Montreal, or the Saint John Cancer Society or the Youth Aliyah, c/o McGill Zion Chapter, Montreal, or the Youth Aliyah, c/o the Saint John Chapter of Hadassah.
