Notes
OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, April 13, 1932, Page 9 J.W Jacobson, 44, Takes Own Life by Hanging Despondent over years of unemployment; Leaves Note Despondency brought on by two years of unemployment is believed to have lead Joseph William Jacobson, 44 of 20 Summer Street, to end his life by hanging early this morning in a woodshed adjoining his home. 'Do not enter the woodshed or you will find me dead,' warned a note on the kitchen table and read at an early hour by Miss Martina McGrath, a domestic. The note also contained the instruction that the maid was to inform tenants in another apartment. Dr. C.L. Emerson, called by police, examined the body, declared that there would be no inquest and gave permission for its removal. Mr. Jacobson's last position was with the New Brunswick Bottle Exchange, City Road. Many friends visited his residence to sympathize with the bereaved family after the news of his passing had spread. Mr. Jacobson was well known for his genial personality and was widely acquainted in the city. He is survived by his wife; a young daughter, Lillian, a hospital patient and two sons, Elliot and Harvey, at home. The funeral arrangements have not yet been completed. Gravestone reference code(s): JM 998.61.60. Additional notes: suicide
