- OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, July 17, 1944 Goldberg – Suddenly at the Saint John General Hospital on July 16, 1944, Louis Goldberg of 50 Mill Street, son of Morris and the late Ethel Goldberg, survived by his wife, two daughters, two sons, father, one brother and five sisters. Body resting at Chamberlain’s Funeral Home, 145 King St. East, from where funeral will be held today (Monday) at 3 p.m. Interment in Hebrew plot in Fernhill cemetery. Louis Goldberg Dies Suddenly: Mill Street Man Passes In General Hospital; Funeral Today Many friends will regret to learn of the sudden passing of Louis Goldberg of 50 Mill St. which occurred at the Saint John General Hospital on Sunday morning at 5 o’clock. Mr. Goldberg was born in Russia, a son of Morris and the late Ethel Goldberg and has resided in this city for the past 32 years. He was a highly respected citizen. He had been proprietor of a store on Mill Street which he conducted successfully while a resident of this city. He was a member of the Hebrew congregation and active in all matters pertaining to that congregation. He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Philip Simon of Glace Bay, N.S., and Miss Helene Goldberg of Patterson, N.J.; two sons, Sol Goldberg at home and Cpl. Mendel Goldberg overseas; his father, Morris Goldberg, Patterson, N.J.; five sisters, Mrs. Bertha Lynn, Mrs. Rose Newfield, Misses Ida and Rita Goldberg, all of Patterson, N.J.; one sister in Russia; one brother, Isadore Goldberg, Patterson, N.J. The body is resting at Chamberlain’s Funeral Home, 145 King St. East, from where funeral will be held today (Monday) at 3 p.m. Interment will be made in the Hebrew plot in Fernhill Cemetery.
