OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, August 7, 1973 Boyaner – At the Saint John General Hospital convalescent wing on August 6, 1973, Louis Boyaner of 178 Horsler Drive; survived by two sons, several nieces and nephews. Resting at the Calvin Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, where the funeral will be held Wednesday, with service at 2 p.m. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Telegraph Journal Tuesday, August 7, 1973, page 18 Well-Known Businessman Mourned A widely-known retired businessman, Louis Boyaner of 178 Horsler Drive, died Monday at the Convalescent Wing of the Saint John General Hospital after a period of failing health. Born in Montreal, the son of the late Don and Kate (Poyas) Boyaner, Mr. Boyaner lived the greater part of his life in Saint John. His father was a pioneer optometrist in the city and he was joined by his sons who later formed Boyaner Bros. Mr. Boyaner had been in the business for 50 years before his retirement. He was a charter member of the Saint John Kiwanis Club, an honourary member of New Brunswick Lodge No. 22 F. and AM. and had received his 50 year medal. He was also a life member of the Knights of Pythias and a member of the Shaarei Zedek Congregation. Mr. Boyaner was interested in world traval and sailed on the original Bluenose. He was predeceased by three brothers, Dr. Frank Boyaner in 1945, Eli Boyaner in 1966 and Harry Boyaner in 1968. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Maurice Elman and Mrs. Norman Smith, both of Saint John; and several nieces and nephews. The body is resting at the Calvin Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, where the funeral will be held Wednesday with service at 2 p.m. Interment will be in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery.
