OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, July 16, 1984, Page 15 Miss Fanny Slovitt died at her residence at the Kennebec Manor. She was born in Russia, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Bluma (Brinder) Slovitt. She had lived in Saint John the greater part of her life and she worked for many years at Wiezel’s Shoe Store. She was a member of the Congregation Shaarei Zedek and a member of the Hadassah. She survived by one brother, Louis G. Slovitt of Saint John, two sisters, Mrs. Ester Malnick of Montreal and Mrs. Pearl Donovan of Saint John, several nephews and nieces. The body is resting at Castle Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, from where the funeral will be held Tuesday at 1 p.m. Interment will take place in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. A private Shiva will be held at the residence of her sister, Mrs. Ester Malnick of Montreal. Funeral on Thursday afternoon from the vestry of Shaarei Zedek Synagogue with service at 2:30 o’clock. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. The Evening Times Globe Wednesday, May 21, 1958, page 26 Harry Slovitt Dies At Residence Stricken with a seizure, harry Slovitt, well-known local salesman, died Tuesday evening at his residence, 138 Metcalf Street. He was 50 years of age. He was born in Saint John, the son of Benjamin Slovitt, 92 Princess Street and the late Mrs. Bluma (Brinder) Slovitt. He had been a resident of this city all his life. Mr. Slovitt had been employed with Holtzman’s Ltd., Waterloo Street. He was a member of the Congregation Shaarei Zedek. Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Patricia Lachle; four sons Pte. Charles Slovitt, serving with Canadian Army at London, Ont., Robert, Daniel and Bruce Slovitt all at home; his father; one brother Louis Slovitt, Saint John; four sisters, Mrs. Morris Donovan and Miss Fanny Slovitt, Saint John; the Misses Lena and Esther Slovitt, Montreal, Quebec; several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held on Thursday afternoon from the vestry of the Shaarei Zedek Synagogue with service at 2:30 o’clock. Interment will be in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, October 27, 1988 Louis (Pinky) G. Slovitt of 15 Mecklenburg Street died Wednesday at St. Joseph’s Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Russia, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Bluma (Brinder) Slovitt. He came to Canada as a young man and spent the greater part of his life in Saint John. He had been employed for many years as a shoe salesman with Wiezel Bros. Ltd. and was an ardent sports fan. He was a member of the Shaarei Zedek congregation. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Donovan of Saint John and Mrs. Esther Melnick of Montreal; several nieces and nephews.
