OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, October 4, 1955 Block – At the Service Nursing Home, Amherst, N.S. on October 4, 1955, Mrs. Rose Block, widow of Israel Block, and daughter of the late David and Sarah Baig, survived by four sons, one daughter, one brother, three grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral was held on Wednesday afternoon from O’Neils Funeral Home, 669 Main Street with service. Interment was in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Gravestone reference code(s): JM 998.61.120. OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, January 22, 1946 Selick – At the Saint John General Hospital on Jan.19, 1946, Pearl Selick, wife of Benjamin Selick of 320 Rockland Road, survived by her husband, four daughters, two sons, one sister, and two brothers. (Moncton, Halifax, and Patterson N.J. papers, please copy.) Funeral was held from her residence, Rockland Road on Sunday, Jan. 20 at 3 o’clock. Interment was in the Congregation Shaarei Zedek plot. The Evening Times Globe / SB Series 100, p.45 Tuesday, January 22, 1946 Mrs. Benjamin Selick Dies in hospital Here Many friends throughout the city and province will regret to learn of the death of Mrs. Pearl Selick, wife of Benjamin Selick of 320 Rockland Road, which occurred at the Saint John General Hospital on Saturday morning after a brief illness. Mrs. Selick was born in Lithuania, a daughter of the late David and Sarah Baig, formerly of this city, and came to the country with her family when she was a small child. She resided in Saint John the greater part of her life. Besides her husband she is survived by four daughters, Mrs. M. Zlatin, Halifax, the Misses Mary, Helen, and Ida, all at home; two sons, Morris and David, at home, both recently discharged from the Navy; one sister, Mrs. I. Block, Amherst; and two brothers, Benjamin Baig, Amherst and Simon Baig, Toronto. The funeral was held from her residence on Sunday at 3 o’clock with service conducted by Rabbi Ben Borenstein and Rev. A. Babb. Interment was made in the Congregation of Shaarei Zedek plot.
