OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, August 16, 1996 Gruber – At her residence on August 14, 1996, Fannie Gruber of Loch Lomond Villa, wife of the late Max Gruber. Born in Russia, she is the daughter of the late Itzak and Fannie (Sofin) Gruber. Mrs. Gruber was a member of the Shaarei Zedek Synagogue. She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Goldberg of Saint John, and Betty Silver of Mississauga, Ontario; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Resting at the Hillsley Funeral Home, 91 Leinster Street (641-1700), the funeral service will be held from the Hillsley Chapel on Friday August 16, 1996, at 2 p.m. Interment in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery.

OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, December 30, 1940, Page 10 Mrs. Fanny Bassen dies at home, succumbs to short illness; funeral will be held today Many friends will regret to learn of the death of Mrs. Fanny Bassen, wife of Max Bassen, which occurred at her residence, 245 Union St., on Sunday evening after a short illness. She was born in Poland and was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Simon Goldman, formerly of Poland. She had resided in this city for the last ?? years. She was a member of the Hebrew congregation and her life was very active in church work. She leaves to mourn her husband; one son Carl Bassen of this city; two sisters, and nine brothers all of Chicago, USA. The Funeral will be held from her residence, 245 Union Street today at 3 p.m. Internment will be made in the Hebrew plot at Fernhill Cemetery. Telegraph Journal Monday, December 30, 1940 BASSEN—At her residence, 245 Union Street, on Dec. 29, 1940, Fanny Bassen, wife of Max Bassen, in her 75th year, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Simon Goldman, formerly of Poland, leaving to mourn her husband, one son, two sisters, and nine brothers. OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, December 19, 1932 Mrs. Charles Brager Many in Saint John mourn the passing of Fanny, wife of Charles Brager, in the General Hospital on Saturday. She is survived by four sons, Max, Louis and J.N. of Saint John, and Morton, Buffalo, N.Y., and three daughters, Rose, Sarah, and Kate, the latter two residing in New York. The funeral was held at 2:30 p.m. yesterday from her late home, 24 Charles Street, and interment was made in the Jewish section of Fernhill Cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. A. Babb.
