OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, August 9, 1991 Bessie Cohen of 20 Prince Edward Street, Prince Edward Apartments, wife of Sam Cohen, died on Thursday at St. Joseph’s Hospital. Born in Saint John, she was a daughter of the late Harry and (Corber) Green. She had been a life long resident of Saint John and was active in community affairs. She was a member of Congregation Shaarei Zedek and Sisterhood. Her brother Louis and sister Muriel died previously. Besides her husband she is survived by one son Mal of Saint John; one daughter Miriam Watkins of Diamond Bar, Calif.; one sister Eleanor Romer of Oakville, Ont.; one brother Nathan Green of Saint John; three grandchildren; several nephews and nieces. The body is resting at the Castle Funeral Home, (Hillsley) 91 Leinster Street from where the funeral will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society if desired. COHEN – At. OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, October 19, 2009 Nathan Lionel Green of Saint John, husband of Barbara Ruth (Dryer) Green, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 18, 2009 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. He was born at Saint John on October 12, 1921, and owned and operated Green’s Restaurant and Green’s Catering from 1958-1988, and was also President of Green-Lee Shoes. In addition to his wife, Nathan is survived by his son, Steven Green (Bonnie) of Saint John; his daughter, Diane Green-Wanderer (Erwin) of Halifax; a sister, Eleanor (Citren) Romer; grandchildren Jason (Tonya and her son Lee) of Saint John, Lori of Saint John, Adam of Montreal, Sarah (Ian) Wanderer-Bezanson of Halifax; and a great grandson, Lex. The funeral service was held on Monday at 3:00 PM from Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424). Interment will take place in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery.
