- Badge has straight sides, a rounded bottom and curves to a point at the top. Black base with 3 beige-gold chevron stripes at the top and a beige-gold 'T' at the bottom. Narrative: The badge is for the US Military rank T/4: Technician Fourth Grade. The ranks of Technician Third, Fourth and Fifth Grade were created on January 8, 1942 under the War Department Circular No. 5. These replaced existing specialist ranks, with the ‘T’ for ‘Technician’ added to the standard chevron design to correspond to that specific grade. The Technician ranks were removed from the rank system in 1948 but brought back with the Specialist ranks in 1955.
