Narrative: Written to the donor by her father. She was to be sent to her uncle and aunt (her father's brother and his wife) when she was 6 or 7 months old. Her father was sent to a forced labour camp in the Ukraine; he died during the war. Her mother was placed in a ghetto, then was later deported to Bergen-Belsen. Marie went with her. Both survived the war.

Biography: En 1967 l'ambassade britannique a officiellement expulsé les juifs sujets anglais du Caire. Le gouvernement anglais les a indemnisés par la suite. Marguerite avait un fils à Montréal qu'elle a rejoint avec son mari. Ils ont retrouvé des connaissances et des amis qui étaient déjà à Montréal depuis 1956. Le mari de Marguerite est décédé à Montréal. Marguerite habite seule un appartement voisin de celui de son fils. Elle sort souvent quand sa santé le lui permet. Elle doit se faire bientôt opérer d'une jambe. Elle est très impliquée dans les oeuvres sociales dans lesquelles elle a été tantôt présidente tantôt secrétaire. Elle trouve que Montréal est une très belle ville où il est agréable de vivre.

Biography: Michel raconte son enfance et sa vie à Méknès avec ses parents et une famille nombreuse, tous vivant dans la même maison. Il se souvient de la charité de son père Salomon Bénhaim et de son beau père Pinhas Azogui qui s'est dévoué toute sa vie à la réconciliation des couples en désacord. Sa femme, Esther, décrit la tragique histoire de sa famille de dix enfants, dont sept d'entre eux ont été emportés par la tuberculose. Michel décrit les difficultés pour quitter le Maroc, malgré les 'bonnes connaissances' son séjour à Paris 'infernal' et son immigration au Canada en Novembre 1976 avec sa femme et ses 3 enfants. Il éxerce son métier de tailleur à la même place, depuis 11 ans à Montréal. Son fils Maxim est graphiste, Pat est dans l'informatique, sa fille s'est mariée et a eu 2 enfants. Ils aiment ce pays, malgré la neige et le frimas. Ils s'y sont complètement adaptés.

Ils sont tous les deux natifs de El Kasar Kévir, Maroc espagnol. Ils eurent 5 enfants, 4 garçons et une fille. Ils ont habité successivement et ce, pour des raisons économiques et politiques, 5 villes à l'intérieur du Maroc . A la suite de la guerre des 6 jours, ils habitèrent Malaga, (Espagne), où le mari de Lucie est décédé. À la demande du fils qui habitait déjà Montréal, Lucie l'a rejoint. Elle a immigré le 24 Août 1978. Elle se plaît à Montréal où elle vit entourée de ses enfants. Questionnée à propos des maisons de retraite, Lucie répond: 'J'espère rester chez moi, tant que je peux me servir de mes bras et de mes jambes.'

Il eut son poste 2 à 3 mois après son immigration au Canada, le 14 Juillet 1965. Il est marié à Messody Assouline de Fez. Ils ont 3 garçons et 2 filles, les uns médecins, les autres professeurs. Ils ont perdu un garçon de 18 ans, Georges, dans un accident de voiture à Québec en 1970. Ils en sont restés profondément marqués. Maurice a publié un livre 'Le destin de l'homme dans la création', en français, traduit en anglais, pour lequel il reçut le prix H.M. Caiserman 1978 et un chèque de 750 dollars. Maurice a eu ces derniers temps, une embolie, dont il a échappé par miracle sans séquelles . Il est cependant atteint d'une grosse dépression nerveuse. Le soleil du Maroc lui manque, mais il aime le Canada où il vit aujourd'hui avec sa famille.

Biography: Jacob était pharmacien à Larache qu'il a dû quitté pour s'installer à Tanger, qu'il a quitter aussi par la suite, pour échapper à l'antisémitisme de Franco. Il s'installa avec sa femme et ses enfants à Casablanca, dont ils gardent un très bon souvenir. Après la guerre Israélo Arabe, ils rejoignirent leur fils Amran nommé Rabbin Dayan (juge), à Miami. Le second fils, pharmacien à Montréal, les appela. Ils immigrèrent au Canada en 1982 où la rigueur du climat et la solitude leur pèsent et leur minent la santé, à leur dire. Ils souhaitent plus de loisirs pour les personnes âgées. Leur fille qui habite à Caracas, viendra bientôt avec son mari et ses enfants, s'installer à Montréal, pour apporter un support à ses parents. Le fils de Jacob, pharmacien à Montréal, est aussi en charge des affaires religieuses à la Communauté Sépharade du Québec, (CSQ).

- Sephardic Oral History Project interview by Marie Berdugo Cohen. Digitized in WAV format in January 2016. Much of the interview is in Judeo-Arabic. Mrs. Berdugo-Cohen notes: 'Quoique il n'y ait rien de particulier dans cette interview, la fille voulant prendre la parole pour la mère, j'ai été très impressionnée par cette solidarité familiale, qui était normale au Maroc, mais que je n'ai pas encore rencontrée à Montréal. Une fille, avec son mari qui se dévouent complètement pour la mère âgée de 89 ans, et pour son frère sourd de 62 ans, qui les accueille sous son toit, et qui dit:¨J'ai servi mon père, je les servirai aussi jusq'à la fin, pour moi c'est une bérakha¨, (une bénédiction). J'ai trouvé cela admirable, quand on sait que d'autres parents sont dans les hospices, et attendent avec angoisse et détresse, les visites des enfants qui avec le temps, se font de plus en plus rares.'
