OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, April 8, 1999 Peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday April 6th 1999, Ida Sarah (Guss) Fransblow, wife of fifty seven years to Max Fransblow of Saint John, N.B. Born in Saint John, Ida was a member of the Congregation Shaarei Zedek, a past member of the Shaarei Zedek Sisterhood, a lifetime member of Hadassah, a volunteer for the N.B. Museum, a Brown Owl and Girl Guide leader; being very active in the scouting movement, as well as canvassing for the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation. Surviving besides her husband Max are her son, Jerome of Abbotsford, B.C.; two daughters, June and her special friend Michael Korenberg of Kingston, Ontario, Marlene and her husband Howard Slepkov of St. Catharine’s, Ontario; two grandchildren Noah and Rebecca and many loving nieces and nephews. Ida was predeceased by five brothers, Ben, Joe, Bill, Abe and Jack. She was the last surviving child of the late Morris and Cecilia (Hains) Guss. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9, 1999 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, (506-634-7424). The interment will follow in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum or to the charity of the Donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
