OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, March 23, 2002 The death of Mrs. Ruth (Gruber) Goldberg, wife of the late Abraham Goldberg, of Saint John, NB, occurred on Thursday, March 21, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Montreal, she was the daughter of the late Max and Fanny (Sofin) Gruber. She was a member of the Shaarei Zedek Synagogue and was Jewish by faith. She is survived by one daughter, Candace Goldberg of Saint John, one sister, Betty (Lewis) Silver of Montreal, one step-son, Dr. Benjamin (Judith) Goldberg of London, ON, on grandson, Hank Goldberg of saint John, and four step-grandchildren; Dr. Joel (Ilana) Goldberg, Mark (Susan) Goldberg, Brian (Jody) Goldberg, Adele (Andy) Pascoe, and 13 step-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband, Abraham. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2002 at 2:00 PM from Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB, (506) 634-7424. Interment will follow at Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum would be appreciated. Gravestone reference code(s): JM 2002.44.101. OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, August 16, 1996 Gruber – At her residence on August 14, 1996, Fannie Gruber of Loch Lomond Villa, wife of the late Max Gruber. Born in Russia, she is the daughter of the late Itzak and Fannie (Sofin) Gruber. Mrs. Gruber was a member of the Shaarei Zedek Synagogue. She is survived by two daughters, Ruth Goldberg of Saint John, and Betty Silver of Mississauga, Ontario; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Resting at the Hillsley Funeral Home, 91 Leinster Street (641-1700), the funeral service will be held from the Hillsley Chapel on Friday August 16, 1996, at 2 p.m. Interment in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery.
