OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal , April 16, 1942 Mrs. Mary Berman Dies At Sackville; Funeral Service Will Be Held Here This Afternoon Mrs. Mary Berman, wife of Henry Berman, died early yesterday morning at her home in Sackville. Mrs. Berman,whose husband is prominent in Sackville community affairs, took an active part in the work of the Red Cross and other charitable organizations. She traveled widely and was known as a brilliant conversationalist and a popular lecturer. She was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Max Rose of Saint John, and was well known in this city. Surviving here are two daughters, Mrs. Joseph Guss, Sackville, and Mrs. Aaron Brown, Montreal. The body arrived here yesterday afternoon, accompanied by Mr. Berman and Mrs. Guss and will rest at Chamberlain’s Funeral Home, 145 King St. East, until this afternoon, when the funeral will be held. Interment in Hebrew plot at Fernhill Cemetery. Gravestone reference code(s): JM 998.61.197. Memorial plaque in synagogue: Abraham E. Smith - C4 .

OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, October 13, 1992 Sylvia Fox Ross of 395 Pleasant Street, Truro N.S., wife of Max Ross died on Sunday at Hillcrest Manor in Truro. Born in Montreal, she was a daughter of the late Ben and Jenny (Evans) Smith. She lived most of her adult life in Truro and her earlier years in Saint John. She was a founding executive member of the Home and School Association in Truro. She is survived by her husband; one son, Ellis Ross of Truro; one daughter, Elaine (Mrs. Raymond Valentine) of Truro, and five grandchildren. A daughter, Tammy Fallon and a brother, Sonny Smith died earlier. The funeral will be held at Castle Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, today at 3 p.m. Interment will take place in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Donations to the Tammy and Kevin Fallon Trust Fund would be appreciated by the family.
