OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, November 30, 1990 BASSEN— Peacefully at his residence on November 29, 1990, Milton (Mickey) Bassen of 400 Douglas Avenue, a well known Saint John businessman; survived by his wife, Patricia (Ganong) Bassen, one sister Helen Schneeberg of Philadelphia, two nieces, Karen Goodhart, of New York, and Susan Bronstein of San Fransico and several cousins. He was the son of the late Carl and Minnie Bassen. Resting at the Castle Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, from where the funeral will be held on Friday at 3 p.m. Interment in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Canadian Hadassah-Wizo by calling 648-9567 or to the charity of the donor's choice. Evening Times Globe Friday, November 30, 1990 Milton (Mickey) Bassen of 400 Douglas Avenue, husband of Patricia (Ganong) Bassin died on Thursday at his residence after a period of failing health. Born in Saint John, he was a son of the late Carl and Minnie Bassen. He attended local schools and Sir George William University in Montreal. He served in the Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. He was a well-known businessman and served, with his late parents, as manager of Bassin's Ltd. on King Street. He was a member of the Shaarei Zedek Synagogue and the Jewish War Veterans. He is survived by his wife; one sister, Helen Scheeberg of Philadelphia; two nieces, Karen Goodhart of New York and Susan Bronstein of San Francisco; and by several cousins. The body is resting at Castle Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, form where the funeral will be held today at 3 p.m. Interment will be in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. David Lubin of the Congregation Shaarei Zedek officiated. Honorary pallbearers were H. Victor Ego, Dr, James F. Izzard, G. H. Don Gaining, William Fizpatrick, Edward Farren, Douglas Fifield, Max Fransblow and Val Dexter. Members of the Chevra Kadisha were pallbearers. Donations were made to the Hadassah-WIZO Organization of Canada; the Shriners' Hospital for Crippled Children; Romero House Soup Kitchen, including one by the management and staff of the Bank of Commerce, King Street; to Hospice of Saint John Inc.; the Canadian Liver Foundation, including one by the officers and members for the Saint John obedience Club; the United Way of Greater Saint John Inc., including one by the partners and staff of Pear, Marwick and Thorne; the New Brunswick heart and Stroke Foundation; the Canadian cancer Society, including those by the staff of Bustins and Kincade Rental Management; to the St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation; Right to Life; the Cathedral Bicentennial Fund; and the Asaf Harofe Hospital for Cancer Research. OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, November 16, 1935 Mrs. Minnie Budovitch Dies in Fredericton Mrs. Minnie Budovitch, widow of Max Budovitch, died suddenly early today at Fredericton following an illness of one day. Her husband died in June. She was born in Russia and came out to Saint John 22 years ago but had resided in Fredericton for 15 years. The body will be brought to the city by motor hearse tomorrow morning at 8:30 o’clock for burial here. Surviving are three sons, Nathan Valensky, by a former marriage and Harry and Samuel Budovitch; two daughters by a former marriage, Mrs. Louis Lang and Mrs. Simon Chippin; five step-sons, Louis, Bennie, Ruben, Hyman and Jake Budovitch; two step-daughters, Mrs. Abe Levine and Miss Lena Budovitch, all of Fredericton; her father, Abraham Bercowetz, in Poland; four brothers and one sister in Poland, and one sister, Mrs. Max Zirolnik, New Rochelle, N.Y.
