- OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, May 6, 2006 HOLTZMAN, ADA - The death of Ada Holtzman of Rocmaura Nursing Home, Saint John, occurred on Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at her residence. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Born in Saint John on October 29, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Nathan and Bessie (Yabeck) Holtzman. Ada worked for Metropolitan Life for over 40 years, retiring in 1965 as Office Manager. She lived in Saint John her entire life and was a member of Congregation Shaarei Zedek, the Sisterhood of Shaarei Zedek and a member of the Hadassah-Wizo. She is survived by three nephews, Norman, Gary and Frank Holtzman and two nieces, Marilyn Krantz and The Honourable Myra Freeman. She was predeceased by four brothers, Moe, Harry, Jack and Abe amd two sisters, Ethel and Jean. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) on Sunday, May 7, 2006 at 2:00 p.m. Interment in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. - OBITUARIES: Saint John Telegraph Journal, April 5, 2004 Harry Holtzman, 25 Waterloo Street, Saint John, New Brunswick, passed away peacefully April 3rd, 2004 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John on March 31, 1912, he was the son of Nathan and Bessie (Yabeck) Holtzman. He successfully owned and operated the Sun-Ray Fruit Store and later Holtzman’s Furniture and Appliances for over 50 years. He was active in community affairs as a past director of Congregation Shaarei Zedek Synagogue and a long time member of the Masonic Grand Lodge of Saint John. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne Freedman and was survived by his son Norman Holtzman (Janet) of Saint John; his daughter Myra Freeman (Lawrence) of Halifax, Nova Scotia; his five grandchildren, Wayne (Mona) and Jeffrey Holtzman, Daniel, Jonathan and Deborah Freeman and two great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday, April 4, 2004 at Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John. Interment was in the Shaarei Zedek / Fernhill Cemetery. - OBITUARIES: Saint John Times Globe, July 3, 2001 Deaths Holtzman, Morris - The death of Morris (Moe) Holtzman of Union St. occurred on Sunday, July 1, 2001 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Nathan and Bessie (Yabeck) Holtzman. Moe had owned and operated Moe’s Fruit Mart on Waterloo St. for 45 years. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army overseas, a member of the Jewish War Veterans Association and a lifetime member of the Shaarei Zedek Synagogue. He is survived by one brother Harry Holtzman, one sister Aida Holtzman both of Saint John, two nieces and two nephews, several grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers Jack and Abe, two sisters Jean and Ethel. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424), on Tuesday, July 3, 2001 at 3 pm. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetary.
