OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, October 12, 1942 Epstein—At her residence, 42 Acadia Street, on Oct. 10, 1942. After a brief illness, Mrs. Bessie Epstein, wife of John Epstein, leaving to mourn her husband, four daughters, and one grandchild. Funeral was held from her residence, Arcadia Street, on Sunday morning, at 10 o’clock. Interment at Hebrew Plot, Fernhill Cemetery. Telegraph Journal Tuesday, October 13, 1942 Mrs. Epstein Dies, Ill For A Week Many friends will regret to learn of the death of Mrs. Bessie Epstein, wife of John Epstein, which occurred at her residence, 42 Acadia Street, on Saturday at noon. Mrs. Epstein had been ill for a week. She was born in Lacowica, Russia, a daughter of the late William Railo Budow but had been residing in this city for over 38 years and was highly esteemed. She was a member of the Hebrew congregation and leaves to mourn her husband, four daughters, Mr. M.I. Everett of this city; Misses Rebecca, Doreen, and Goldie all at home, and one granddaughter, Miss Barbara Joan Everett of this city. The funeral was held from her residence, Acadia Street on Sunday morning at 10 o’clock with services being conducted by Rev. A. Babb and Rabbi Beshkin. OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, October 13, 2006 The death of Doreen Epstein of Saint John, age 92 years, occurred on Wednesday, October 11th, 2006 at her residence. Doreen was employed at Calp's Department Store for many years before her retirement. She lived in Millidgeville most of her life and for the past five years was living at Chase's Special Care Home. She is survived by three nieces, Brenda Budovitch, Riva Waldman and Barbara Gross. She was predeceased by two sisters, Goldie Budovitch and Rebecca Jacobson. A graveside service was held at Shaarei Zedek Cemetery, Saint John on Thursday, october 12th, 2006. Arrangements were under the direction of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).

Dearly loved father of Jerome of Abbotsford, British Colombia, June Mary Fransblow and Michael Karenberg of Kingston, ON and Marlene and her husband Howard Slepkov of St. Catharine's, ON. Cherished and much admired grandfather of Rebecca and Noah Slepkov. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews and their families. He is survived by his sister, Kay Cohen (the late Nathan) of Moncton and his sisters-in-law Sylvia Fransblow of Fredericton, Bernice Fransblow of Vancouver, British Colombia and Rose Guss (the late William) of Saint John. He is predeceased by his brothers, Edward (Rose), Louis, Harry, Hyman, William, his twin brother Joseph, his sister Bernetta Guss (Abe) and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ben and Millie Guss, Jack and Jean Guss and Joseph Guss. Max was the proprietor of Fransblow Grocery in Saint John for many years. Funeral service will be held at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) on Thursday, June 22, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, March 10, 2006 Fransblow, William - William Fransblow of Fredericton, formerly of Bathurst, passed away in his 95th year on Thursday, March 9, 2006. Son of the late Jacob and the late Rebecca Fransblow. Dearest bother of Max (Saint John) and Kay Cohen (Moncton). Predeceased by siblings, Edward, Louis, Hyman, Harry, Joseph and Bernetta Guss. He will be sadly missed by his sister-in-law Sylvia Fransblow, many nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews. Funeral service from Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B. on Sunday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. Burial at Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. OBITUARIES: Saint John Times Globe, July 13, 1999 Guss, Bernetta - Nee Fransblow. On July 9, 1999, at the Saint John Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness, Bernetta Guss, wife of the late Abram; daughter of the late Jacob and Rebecca (Zaichik) Fransblow, sister of Kay Cohen, Moncton, Max Fransblow of Saint John; William Fransblow, Bathurst, the late Joe Fransblow, Bathurst, the late Louis Fransblow, Bathurst, the late Hyman Fransblow, Tracadie, the late Edward Fransblow, Sussex. Survived by her children, Janice Schloss (Neil), Toronto, Marilyn Guss (Peter Kardos), Toronto, Martha Guss (Rob Rosenbaum), Vancouver, Debbie Simon, Toronto, and Joseph Guss, Mississauga, five grandchildren, one great grandchild, many nieces and nephews. Bernetta became a registered nurse in 1943 at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. She practiced nursing for many years at the Saint John General Hospital and was also a volunteer member of the Saint John General Hospital Auxiliary Group. She was active in the Hadassah-WIZO organization and the sisterhood of the Congregation of Shaarei Zedek serving as President for a term. There was no visitation at the funeral home. Funeral services were held on Sunday, July 11, 1999, from the chapel of Brenan's Funeral home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, N.B., (506-634-7425), at 2 p.m. The interment followed in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery, Saint John, N.B.
