OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, September 1, 1948 Koven - Suddenly at the Saint John General Hospital, on Aug. 31, 1948, Rose Koven, wife of Morris Koven of Coldbrook, Saint John county and daughter of the late Samuel Goler of Newark N.J., survived by her husband, two daughters, two sons, one sister and two brothers. Resting at Chamberlain’s Funeral Home, 145 King Street East, from where the funeral will be held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. The Evening Times Globe Tuesday, August 30, 1948, page 6 Death Is Shock To Many Friends The sudden passing of Mrs. Rose Koven, wife of Morris Koven, Coldbrook, will be a shock to her many friends. Mrs. Koven died this morning in the Saint John General Hospital after suffering a heart attack. She had been in apparently good health on Monday and had carried out her household duties as usual. Mrs. Koven was born in Russia, a daughter of Mrs. Sarah and the late Samuel Goler. She had lived in Saint John for the last 26 years and was an active member of the Hebrew congregation as well as a popular member of the community. Surviving besides her husband, a well-known merchant, are two daughters Mrs. Phil Kaplan, Newark, N.J., and Miss Ann, at home; two sons, Joseph and Samuel, Saint John; her mother in Newark N.J., one sister, Mrs. Lena Kominsky, New York, and two brothers, Samuel and Isadore, Jersey City, N.J. The body is resting at Chamberlains Funeral Home, 145 King Street East, from where the funeral will be held on Wednesday with service at 2:30 o’clock. Interment will be in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery.… The Evening Times Globe September 1, 1948, page 16 The funeral of Mrs. Rose Koven, wife of Morris Koven, Coldbrook, who died Tuesday morning, was held this afternoon at 2:30 p.m., from Chamberlain’s Funeral Home, 145 King Street East, with Rabbi E. Slotki officiating. There were many floral tributes, among them pieces from Glen Falls Home and School Association, Coldbrook Aces softball team, C.N.R. Suburban softball league and Vassie, Brock, Manchester and staff. Interment was in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Gravestone reference code(s): JM 998.61.310. Memorial plaque in synagogue: Abraham E.
