- 1 page, single-sided. Folded once horizontally. Document printed on letterhead of Association of Survivors of Nazi Oppression. Letter written from Aba Beer to the Principal of Eckville High School, stating that the organization does not feel that the truth about the facts of the Holocaust has not emerged in the aftermath of the pedagogical practices of teacher James Keegstra. An offer is made for survivors to travel to Eckville and meet with students and faculty members,. Narrative: James Keegstra was a high school teacher and the mayor of Eckville, Alberta when he was accused of teaching students that the Holocaust had never happened, along with other anti-Semitic propaganda. He was charged and convicted of hate speech in 1984, a conviction which was overturned upon appeal, but reinstated by the Supreme Court of Canada. The Association of Survivors of Nazi Oppression, formerly the Association of Former Concentration Camp Inmates, Survivors of Nazi Oppression, was founded circa 1960 in Montreal. Many of its members were founding members of the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre.

He survived the Lodz ghetto, was deported to Auschwitz where he stayed four days before being sent to slave labour in Lieberose, Sachenhausen, and Mauthausen concentration camps. In April 1945, he was forced on a death march to Gunskirchen concentration camp where he was liberated by the US army. He immigrated to Montreal in 1949 and became the president of the Association of Survivors of Nazi Oppression (circa 1963-1971) and took part in the creation of the MHMC in 1979.

From l. to r. the four men in the first row are Abba Beer, Steven Cummings, Tibor Weinberger (holding urn), Issie Veisfeld. Narrative: The march took place on the inauguration of the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre On that day, Montreal's Holocaust survivors are walking with a urn filled with the ashes of Auschwitz-Birkenau victims from the Spanish and Portuguese synagogue on St-Kevin street to the Cummings House on Cote-Sainte-Catherine Road. The urn was then deposed in the Montreal Holocaust Memorial Centre.

He survived the Lodz ghetto, was deported to Auschwitz where he stayed four days before being sent to slave labour in Lieberose, Sachenhausen, and Mauthausen concentration camps. In April 1945, he was forced on a death march to Gunskirchen concentration camp where he was liberated by the US army. He immigrated to Montreal in 1949 and became the president of the Association of Survivors of Nazi Oppression (circa 1963-1971) and took part in the creation of the MHMC in 1979. General Jean Victor Allard (1913 – 1996) was the first French Canadian to become in 1966-1969 Chief of the Defence Staff, the highest position in the Canadian Forces and to hold the accompanying rank of general. During WW2 he was Deputy Commanding Officer of Régiment de la Chaudière in England and in December 1943, he became the Commanding Officer of the Royal 22e Régiment in Italy. At the end of the war, he was in command of the 6th Canadian Infantry Brigade.
