OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, November 4, 1940, Page 10 Abraham Aranoff Dies In Hospital The death of Abraham Aranoff, well-known resident of the North End, occurred yesterday morning at the General Hospital after a brief illness. A son of Mrs. Lena and the late David Aranoff, he was born in Saint John and had resided here all his life. He was a member of the Hebrew Congregation of the Shaarei Zedek Synagogue. He was also a member of the Saint John branch of the New Brunswick Fish and Game Protective Association. Besides his mother, he is survived by four brothers, Morris Aranoff, New York, and Solomon, Harry and Louis, all of this city. The funeral was held yesterday afternoon from Chamberlain’s Funeral Home, 21 Paradise Row, at 3 p.m. Service was conducted by Rabbi M. Beshkin, assisted by Rev. A. Babb. OBITUARIES: Saint John Telegraph Journal, December 20, 2002 Following a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis, the death of Mr. Eliezer Arrditti, of Saint John, occurred on Thursday, December 19, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Eliezer is the son of Dr. Joseph and Renee (Menda) Arditti. Eliezer was a Saint John High Graduate. He studied the film industry and painting extensively at UCLA, from where he graduated. He enjoyed painting. Eliezer is survived by his parents, as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his sister, Perla Aditti. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 20, 2002 at 12:00 Noon form Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (506) 634-7424. OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, November 8, 1997 The death of Perla Arditti of Toronto, formerly of Saint John, occurred at her home on Thursday, November 6, 1997. Daughter of Dr. Joseph and Renee Arditti of Saint John. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1959. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Eliezer Arditti of Saint John, an aunt, Esther Menda Assalian of Montreal and relatives in Israel and Turkey. She received her early education in Saint John and graduated from Dalhousie University in Halifax with a degree in Psychology. In 1980 she relocated to Toronto where she became involved in counselling in the 'Youth in Trouble Program' designed to help young people experiencing difficulty coping in society. She later entered the real estate field and when illness curtailed her mobility she became a mortgage broker. She later became Youth Director at the Adat Israel Synagogue and at the time of her death was organizing and working with Multiple Sclerosis support group. She will be returned to Saint John with funeral services to be held on Monday, November 10, 1997 at the Ocean View Funeral Home 'Hillsley Chapel', 91 Leinster Street (634-1712) with service at 2 p.m. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. He served in the Canadian Air Force during the Second World War. He was a well-known businessman and served, with his late parents, as manager of Bassin's Ltd. on King Street. He was a member of the Shaarei Zedek Synagogue and the Jewish War Veterans. He is survived by his wife; one sister, Helen Scheeberg of Philadelphia; two nieces, Karen Goodhart of New York and Susan Bronstein of San Francisco; and by several cousins. The body is resting at Castle Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, form where the funeral will be held today at 3 p.m. Interment will be in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, December 29, 1944, SB Series 98, no. 6, p. 150 Miss Guss' Death Widely Mourned. Popular Member of Jewish Community Passes in Hospital The death of Miss Rae Guss, 48 Summer Street, which occurred at the General Hospital at an early hour this morning, has caused widespread regret among her many friends. Miss Guss had been in failing health for some time. Born in Dorbian, Lithuania, a daughter of Max and the late Mary Guss, she had resided in Saint John for thirty years, where she was highly esteemed. She is survived by her father, by two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Tobin, with whom she had made her home and Mrs. Jacob Smith of Moncton, also by several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held this afternoon from the residence of her sister, Mrs. Tobin, Summer Street at 3:30 o'clock, with Rev. N. Borenstein and Rev. A. Babb officiating. OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, December 16, 2006 Guss, Rose - The death of Rose (Shur) Guss of Rocmaura Nursing Home, Saint John, N.B., wife of the late William Guss, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday, December 15th, 2006. Born in Eagle Lake, Maine she was a daughter of the late Rubin and Ida (Rapaport) Shur. Rose was a graduate of Island Falls High School in Maine in 1927. She worked in New York for several years at a Steel Company before moving to Bangor to work at New Central Furniture Company and then with Burdell Clothing Store. Rose and Bill then moved to Calgary, AB, and later to Montreal, QC before moving to Saint John. Rose was an active member of the Shaarei Zedek Synagogue and the Haddash B'nigh Organization. Rose is survived by her sister, Lena Denis of Bangor, Maine, her brother-in-law Max Fransblowof Saint John, several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Jacob, Morris and Benjamin and her sister, Ruth Shapiro. Resting at Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row (506-634-7424) with a funeral service on Sunday, December 17th, 2006 from Brenan's Chapel at 3 p.m. Interment will take place in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, August 13, 1970 By accident in Huntsville, Ont., on August 13, 1970, Lyle Abraham Isaacs, aged 19, son of Lawrence and Ruth (Shane) Isaacs of 21 Orange Street, Saint John; survived by his parents and one sister. The body will arrive by air Friday afternoon, and rest at the Calvin Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, where services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. Internment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the Lyle Isaacs Memorial Scholarship Fund for perpetual student aid, at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. P.O. Box 547, Saint John. The Evening Times Globe Thursday, August 13, 1970 Car Crash Claims Local Youth Lyle Abraham Isaacs, 20, a second-year high honors student at York University in Toronto and an active participant in the local Jewish community, was killed Wednesday in an automobile accident near Huntsville, Ontario, 160 miles north of Toronto. He was the son of Mr. Lawrence and Ruth (Shane) Isaacs 0f 21 Orange Street. Police report that his car collided with a tractor-trailer on a highway near Huntsville. At the time of his death, Mr. Isaacs, was program director at Camp Bilben, a national leadership training institute of Canadian Young Judaea. In 1968, Mr. Isaacs graduated in second place with high honors from Saint John High School and was named outstanding student of the year. He was president of the high school student council and helped to introduce a foster-parent plan in the school. Previous to that, he was president of the Prince Charles School student council and won outstanding student award at that school. In 1968-69, he spent one year in a leadership-training program in Israel, and was elected national president of the Canadian Young Judaea. He was serving his second term in that position at the time of his death. In May 1970, he returned to Israel on behalf of Young Judaea to find a program director for the Central region of the Zionist youth movement. Besides his parents, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Avi Ram, Israel. The body is resting at the Calvin Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, where the service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Eisenberg officiating assisted by Rabbi A. Feffer. The Young Judaeans acted as pallbearers. Memorial tributes were made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation and to the Lyle A. Resting at the Castle funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, from where the funeral will be held on Wednesday with service at 3 .m. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. The Evening Times Globe Wednesday, March 31, 1993 Hyman Kashetsky of 91 Cranston Avenue, husband of Lillian (Levine) Kashetsky, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Tuesday. Born in Saint John, he was a son of the late Morris and Esther (Budovitch) Kashetsky. He had been employed in the antique business for 68 years and owned and operated the Antique Centre in Saint John. He traveled widely in connection with his business and his antiques were sent to many parts of the world. He was also an expert in hooked rugs. He lived in Prince Edward Island for 25 years and operated a store in Kensington. In his youth, he was active in boxing. He was a member of the Congregation Shaarei Zedek. Surviving, besides his wife, are his sister-in-law Blanche Kashetsky and several nieces and nephews. His brother Max and his sister Pearl died before him. The funeral will be held today at 3 p.m. at Castle Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street. Burial will be in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery.
