OBITUARIES: Saint John Telegraph Journal, December 20, 2002 Following a lengthy battle with Multiple Sclerosis, the death of Mr. Eliezer Arrditti, of Saint John, occurred on Thursday, December 19, 2002 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Eliezer is the son of Dr. Joseph and Renee (Menda) Arditti. Eliezer was a Saint John High Graduate. He studied the film industry and painting extensively at UCLA, from where he graduated. He enjoyed painting. Eliezer is survived by his parents, as well as many cousins, aunts and uncles. He was predeceased by his sister, Perla Aditti. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 20, 2002 at 12:00 Noon form Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, (506) 634-7424. Interment will take place at Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Jewish Historical Museum or the Multiple Sclerosis Society, would be appreciated. OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, November 8, 1997 The death of Perla Arditti of Toronto, formerly of Saint John, occurred at her home on Thursday, November 6, 1997. Daughter of Dr. Joseph and Renee Arditti of Saint John. She was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1959. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brother, Eliezer Arditti of Saint John, an aunt, Esther Menda Assalian of Montreal and relatives in Israel and Turkey. She received her early education in Saint John and graduated from Dalhousie University in Halifax with a degree in Psychology. In 1980 she relocated to Toronto where she became involved in counselling in the 'Youth in Trouble Program' designed to help young people experiencing difficulty coping in society. She later entered the real estate field and when illness curtailed her mobility she became a mortgage broker. She later became Youth Director at the Adat Israel Synagogue and at the time of her death was organizing and working with Multiple Sclerosis support group. She will be returned to Saint John with funeral services to be held on Monday, November 10, 1997 at the Ocean View Funeral Home 'Hillsley Chapel', 91 Leinster Street (634-1712) with service at 2 p.m. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Jewish Historical Museum of Saint John. Gravestone reference code(s): JM 998.61.485. (Boston and Lynn papers please copy) Harry Hart, one of the best known citizens of Saint John, died Friday after an illness of some months. Deceased, who was at one time a traveller for the tobacco firm of A.S. Hart, was in his 51st year. He is survived by his mother, five sisters and one brother. The sisters are Mrs. R Landau, Mrs. Louis Green and Miss Rae Hart. The brother is A.S. Hart who does business in the Open House block. OBITUARIES: Saint John Times Globe, July 3, 2001 Deaths Holtzman, Morris - The death of Morris (Moe) Holtzman of Union St. occurred on Sunday, July 1, 2001 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Nathan and Bessie (Yabeck) Holtzman. Moe had owned and operated Moe’s Fruit Mart on Waterloo St. for 45 years. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army overseas, a member of the Jewish War Veterans Association and a lifetime member of the Shaarei Zedek Synagogue. He is survived by one brother Harry Holtzman, one sister Aida Holtzman both of Saint John, two nieces and two nephews, several grand nieces and nephews and great grand nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by two brothers Jack and Abe, two sisters Jean and Ethel. The funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home Chapel 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (506-634-7424), on Tuesday, July 3, 2001 at 3 pm. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetary. OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, August 13, 1970 By accident in Huntsville, Ont., on August 13, 1970, Lyle Abraham Isaacs, aged 19, son of Lawrence and Ruth (Shane) Isaacs of 21 Orange Street, Saint John; survived by his parents and one sister. The body will arrive by air Friday afternoon, and rest at the Calvin Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, where services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. Internment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the Lyle Isaacs Memorial Scholarship Fund for perpetual student aid, at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. P.O. Box 547, Saint John. The Evening Times Globe Thursday, August 13, 1970 Car Crash Claims Local Youth Lyle Abraham Isaacs, 20, a second-year high honors student at York University in Toronto and an active participant in the local Jewish community, was killed Wednesday in an automobile accident near Huntsville, Ontario, 160 miles north of Toronto. He was the son of Mr. Lawrence and Ruth (Shane) Isaacs 0f 21 Orange Street. Police report that his car collided with a tractor-trailer on a highway near Huntsville. At the time of his death, Mr. Isaacs, was program director at Camp Bilben, a national leadership training institute of Canadian Young Judaea. In 1968, Mr. Isaacs graduated in second place with high honors from Saint John High School and was named outstanding student of the year. He was president of the high school student council and helped to introduce a foster-parent plan in the school. Previous to that, he was president of the Prince Charles School student council and won outstanding student award at that school. In 1968-69, he spent one year in a leadership-training program in Israel, and was elected national president of the Canadian Young Judaea. He was serving his second term in that position at the time of his death. In May 1970, he returned to Israel on behalf of Young Judaea to find a program director for the Central region of the Zionist youth movement. Besides his parents, he is survived by one sister, Mrs. Avi Ram, Israel. The body is resting at the Calvin Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, where the service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. Interment will be in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the Lyle Isaacs Memorial Scholarship Fund for Perpetual Student Aid at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, P.O. Box 547, Saint John. OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, May 20, 2003, Obituary also appeared May 21, 2003. The death of Mr. Mark Reece of Saint John, NB occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB on Sunday, May 18, 2003. Born in Manchester, England, April 25, 1914, he was the son of Israel and Ester Reece. Mr. Reece immigrated to Canada on the 25th of January, 1949 and was employed for 20 years as C.F.O. of MRA Holdings and Manchester, Robinson, Allison, Vassie Branch Manchester, Bonnell’s Ltd. (Cape Breton), MacDonald Furniture (Halifax) and New Way Furniture Co., (Maritimes). He served in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve and served with distinction in the Battle of Britain, the middle and far east. He was a past member of the Lions Club for 30 years, past member of the Riverside Golf and Country Club, a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #64, the Jewish War Veterans League and Burma Club of New Brunswick. All of his life, Mr. Reece was interested in good music and was a Ham Radio Operator. Besides his parents, Mr. Reece is also predeceased by two brothers, Hyman and Montague. Friends are welcome to attend a graveside service, under the direction of Brenan’s Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (506-634-7424) at Shaarei Zedek Cemetery (next to Fernhill Cemetery) Westmorland Rd., Saint John, on Tuesday, May 20, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. There will be no visitation or funeral at the funeral home.
