- OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, May 5, 1997 Guss – In Toronto, Ontario on May 2, 1997, Mr. Jack Guss of Toronto and formerly of Saint John, husband of the late Jean Frieda (Takiff) Guss. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Cyra (Hans) and Morris Guss. Mr. Guss is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Guss of Montreal and Monica Guss of Los Angeles, one sister Ida Fransblow and her husband Max of Saint John, three sisters-in-law, Mildred, Rose, and Bernetta, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Benjamin, Joseph, William, Abraham, and Philip. The funeral service will be held at 'Hillsley' Funeral Home, 91 Leinster Street (634-1700) on Monday May 5, 1997 at 2 p.m. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Donations to Shaarei Zedek Synagogue or New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Gravestone reference code(s): JM 998.61.439.
