OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, November 8, 2008 On Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Baycrest Hospital, Toronto, Ita Freedman, beloved wife of Dr. Lewis H. Freedman. Loving mother and mother-in-law of Mary Ann and Billy Hitzig, John and Cathi Freedman, Robert and Pam Freedman. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Herschel and Ann Bernstein of Montreal and the late Aaron Bernstein and Lynda Joyce. Devoted grandmother of Nancy, Warren, Sander Hitzig, Dafna and Sivan, Benjamin and Aubrey, Elisabeth, Carolyn, and David Freedman, and Max and Kyla Freedman. The funeral was held on Friday, November 07, 2008 in Saint John, NB. Shiva at 650 Briar Hill Avenue, Apt. 611, Toronto. Memorial donations may be made to the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum. The funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan's Select Community Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, New Brunswick (506-634-7424). OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, May 5, 1997 Guss – In Toronto, Ontario on May 2, 1997, Mr. Jack Guss of Toronto and formerly of Saint John, husband of the late Jean Frieda (Takiff) Guss. Born in Saint John he was the son of the late Cyra (Hans) and Morris Guss. Mr. Guss is survived by two daughters, Phyllis Guss of Montreal and Monica Guss of Los Angeles, one sister Ida Fransblow and her husband Max of Saint John, three sisters-in-law, Mildred, Rose, and Bernetta, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers Benjamin, Joseph, William, Abraham, and Philip. The funeral service will be held at 'Hillsley' Funeral Home, 91 Leinster Street (634-1700) on Monday May 5, 1997 at 2 p.m. Interment in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Donations to Shaarei Zedek Synagogue or New Brunswick Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family. Gravestone reference code(s): JM 998.61.439.
