OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, January 17, 1969, Page 16 Dr. A. P. Goldman Dies In Baltimore Dr. A. Percy Goldman, a well-known Saint John optometrist, died Thursday morning at the Belvedore Nursing, Baltimore, Md., after a lengthy period of ill-health. Born at Salisbury, Westmorland County, he was a son of Minnie Goldman and the late Joseph Goldman of Saint John. Mr. Goldman was educated at Saint John schools and graduated from Saint John High School. He furthered his education by attending Columbia University in New York for a year, from which he transferred to the Rochester School of Optometry, graduating with the 'golden key' in 1926. He was also granted a degree for the teaching of speed reading. Following graduation, he returned to Saint John and carried on his profession at 159 Union Street, in the Goldman Building which houses the Provincial Bank, until a little over a year ago, when he became ill. He married the former Annette Granstien of Montreal, who died in 1967. Mr. Goldman has been a member of the Saint John Board of Trade and founder of the Young Judeans Society in Saint John. During his youth, he was a member of the Boy Scouts. He is survived by his mother, one son, Dr. Edwin of Baltimore; one brother, Dr. Sanford of New York; one sister, Mrs. Dorothy Isaacs of Montreal; and several nieces and nephews. The body will arrive in Saint John at 10 o'clock this morning and will rest at the Calvin Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, from where funeral service will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will take place in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Gravestone reference code(s): JM 998.61.515. Memorial plaque in synagogue: Nathan and Mary Meltzer - E4.
