Around them are crowds of people, some wearing military uniforms, and in the background are grey buildings. According to the title, these 1,200 female workers will, once married, leave 1,200 positions to be filled. Narrative: The cigarette cards were packaged inside of Salem cigarette packs and were used as NSDAP propaganda in the 1930s. They were meant to be collected and inserted into an accompanying album.

Narrative: Donor Emil Kroo is a Holocaust survivor originally from Munkacz (Czech Republic). Emil was in terned in a slave labour cmap in Hungary until 1944. He later met his wife Rosa Magien in Romania. After the war they were in a displaced persons camp in Fürth, Germany. Emil Kroo was the Vice-President of the Central Committee of liberated Jews in the American Zone of Germany. They immigrated to New York in 1950 before settling in Montreal.

- Print of drawing by Sylvia Malkowitz, depicts a store room of the American Joint Distribution Company. Racks of coats, piles of boxes marked 'AJDC,' a saw horse, and 2 opened boxes. Narrative: Sylvia Benjamin (then Markowitz) started working as overseas staff for the American Joint Distribution Committee in Dec 1945. Her first assignment was at the Bergen-Belsen Displaced Persons camp near Hamburg. She was charged with interviewing for and distributing visas to Sweden, helping Jews locate surviving family, and for arranging medical care. After 6 months she was transferred to Hamburg where she helped re-establish a Jewish community. Her focus was on rebuilding a sense of community and spirit above mere survival requirements.
