He reenlisted in the Veterans Guard of Canada on September 16, 1941. Born in London, England, Private Stern came to Canada in 1914. Among his many communal involvements, Private Stern was a member of the Military Committee of Canadian Jewish Congress.

- OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, April 3, 1975 The death of Mrs. Minnie Sereisky of Toronto, and formerly of Saint John, wife of the late Max Sereisky occurred Wednesday at the extended Nursing Care Home in Toronto. Born in Moscow, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Sarah Porss. She had lived in Saint John for a period of 47 years prior to moving to Toronto in 1965. While in Saint John she was a member of the Congregation Shaarei Zedek Synagogue and a former member of the Hadassah of Shaarei Zedek. She is survived by her one daughter, Jean, Mrs. J. Timothy Dickson of Toronto. The body will arrive in Saint John and rest at the Castle Funeral Home, (Hillsley). 91 Leinster Street from where the funeral will be held at a time to be announced. Interment will take place at Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. [Jean Dickson, was adopted by her uncle and aunt, Max and Minnie Seriesky; she was a daughter of Morris and J.
