Notes
1 page. Two-sided certificate. It may have been produced by a resistance organization. Narrative: Jacques Neufeld was born on 1910-10-13 in Strasbourg, France. A few days before the war broke out, Jacques and his mother were evacuated. After moving to different cities in France, Jacques eventually settled down in Marseille. He then joined several underground resistance groups including the Francs Tireurs et Partisans Français (FTPF). Together with other underground members, he managed to smuggle 384 people out of the Rivesaltes interbnment camp by hiding them in barrels used as excrements containers. In 1943-04, Jean Chaigneau became the new prefect of Nice. Jacques knew him and asked for his help. Mr Chaigneau saved hundreds of Jewish families by providing them with falsified papers.
