Shallow cup without handle on narrow base, inner and outer surfaces of cup are embossed in ornate, abstract pattern. Border embossed around rim. Saucer has recess in centre for base of cup. Embossed in matching pattern, with matching round border embossed around edge. Narrative: In Judaism, kiddush is a ceremony of prayer and blessing over wine, performed by the head of a Jewish household at the meal ushering in the Sabbath (on a Friday night) or a holy day, or at the lunch preceding it. A silver goblet or cup is traditionally used to honor the mitzvah of reciting kiddush.
