OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, July 4, 1960, Page 3 John Ross Dies in Nova Scotia The death of John Ross, Truro, N.S. occurred Saturday morning at his summer residence, Shortts Lake, Colchester County. He was 85 years of age. His passing followed a month after that of his wife, Mrs. Rachel Ross who died on May 21. It was the third death in the family circle this year. A daughter, Mrs. Ben Sharpe, died at St. Catharine's, Ontario on Feb. 6. Surviving are two sons, Max Ross and Harry Ross, both of Truro, N.S., two daughters, Mrs. Jack Calp, Saint John, Mrs. Joseph Fritz, Kentcille, N.S.; a brother Peter Ross, London, Ontario; two sisters, Mrs. A. Dreskin, Saint John and Mrs. M. Schecter, Perth Amboy, N.J.; as well as 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The body was brought to Saint John and the funeral was held Sunday afternoon from the vestry of Shaarei Zedek Synagogue with the service conducted by Rabbi Avraham Greenspan of Halifax. OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, October 4, 1993 Ross - At his son-in-law’s residence, Pelton Road, Saint John, on October 2, 1993, Morton (Max) D. Ross of 395 Pleasant St. Truro, N.S., husband of the late Sylvis (Smith) Ross. Mr. Ross was born in Saint John, a son of the late John and Rachel (Berman) Ross. Mr. Ross operated along with his late brother, John Ross and Sons Metal Merchants. Mr. Ross was a private pilot, and built his own aircraft. He was a horticulturist and an avid ham radio operator. He is survived by one son Ellis Ross, and a daughter, Elaine Valentine and her husband Raymond, both of Truro, N.S. two sisters, Teresa Calp, Saint John, and Aida Fritz, Kentville N.S., three grandsons, two great-grandsons, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Ethel Sharp, a brother Harry Ross, a daughter Tammy Fallon and a grandson Kevin Fallon. Resting at the Castle Funeral Home, (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, from where the funeral will be held on Monday with service at 2 p.m. Interment at Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. OBITUARIES: Evening Times Globe, October 13, 1992 Sylvia Fox Ross of 395 Pleasant Street, Truro N.S., wife of Max Ross died on Sunday at Hillcrest Manor in Truro. Born in Montreal, she was a daughter of the late Ben and Jenny (Evans) Smith. She lived most of her adult life in Truro and her earlier years in Saint John. She was a founding executive member of the Home and School Association in Truro. She is survived by her husband; one son, Ellis Ross of Truro; one daughter, Elaine (Mrs. Raymond Valentine) of Truro, and five grandchildren. A daughter, Tammy Fallon and a brother, Sonny Smith died earlier. The funeral will be held at Castle Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street, today at 3 p.m. Interment will take place in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. Donations to the Tammy and Kevin Fallon Trust Fund would be appreciated by the family.
