Narrative: Many of Lejwik’s writings incorporated his negative childhood experience’s of having an abusive father, his unpleasant experiences with Orthodox Judaism, and his years of imprisonment. His own suffering is strong depicted and influenced in his characters. His poems largely deal with themes of exile or illness and many were set in sweatshops, like those Lejwik worked in when he immigrated to the US. His works were very influential with the Yiddish public, thus making him one of the most prominent Yiddish poets in the world.
