Fonds consists of family history items: a genealogy of the Landau family entitled The Landau Family tree 1994 and The Sheinfeld Family Tree 2002. Both were compiled by genealogist Jerrold Landau. Photocopies of the Marriage certificates of Jacob and Rose are included in the genealogical file amongsā€¦

Scope and Content
Fonds consists of family history items: a genealogy of the Landau family entitled The Landau Family tree 1994 and The Sheinfeld Family Tree 2002. Both were compiled by genealogist Jerrold Landau. Photocopies of the Marriage certificates of Jacob and Rose are included in the genealogical file amongst other family history material. Electronic images include scanned documents belonging to Jacob and Rose Landau such as passports, union books, Medical examination certificate, correspondence, etc.

History Biographical
Jacob Landau (1896-1980) and his wife Rose Sheinfeld (1892-1970) were married in Montreal in 1922. After emigrating from Europe (Poland?) they moved between Ottawa and Montreal several times before eventually settling in Ottawa for good. In Ottawa, Jacob Landau was a butcher and a delicatessen owner until his retirement around 1960. In the 1970's Jacob Landau was the Gabbai Rishon of the Ottawa Chevra Kadisha.

1. Images were scanned and returned to donor via Mrs. Edie Landau in February, 2010. 2. See Textual Documents Folder/ Landau folder. These documents have not been printed from electronic files. 3. See database for electronic images from J. Landau. 4. Mrs. Edie Landau's paternal grandfather Shmuel Leif Goldberg served as shamash and melamed at the James Street (B'nai Jacob) in the late 1930's and 1940's.
