- Founded in Montreal in 1892, the Association was the first mutual aid group of its kind in the city. Its aims were to provide free medical care, invalid pensions, mortuary benefits and cemetery plots. Its members also provided visits to the sick, help to the bereaved, and donations to various charities (both local and for Israel). The HSBA was made redundant by Medicare, pensions, etc., and ceased its active work in 1989.

- History / Biographical
- Begun in 1907 in Montreal as the Russian-Polish Society, this landsmanschaft soon changed from a fraternal organization of newly arrived immigrants to a sick benefit association with close ties to the community. As one of the oldest Jewish fraternal organizations in North America, the Association provided gifts and helped its members celebrate special occasions. Broadening to a community organization, it provided mutual assistance, sick benefits, visits to ill members, burial lots, visits to the bereaved, funeral expenses, assistance to the aged, free loans, and aid to European Jews. By holding cultural events and through its membership, it was able to raise funds for these causes as well as for Israel. It was closely associated with the Hadrath Kodesh, Hadrath Yeshurun Synagogue and the Federation of Polish Jews.

- History / Biographical
- The North End Vilkomirer Hebrew Sick Benefit Association (or Society) was one of Montreal's many landsmanschaft associations. It was established in 1917 by Jews from Vilkomir, Lithuania, who had been exiled from their homes in 1915. Like most landsmanschaft, it raised money for local charities (and later, Israel) and supported its parent community (mainly through war relief). As well, the North End Wilkomirer H.S.B.A. provided burial plots and death benefits, insurance, and funds in case of sickness for its members.
