- Mary Flesher (b.1896 - d.1982) and Samuel Lesh (b.1887 - d.1961) met and married in Ottawa after making their separate ways from Russia to Ottawa in the early part of the twentieth century. They were married on May 23, 1915 by the Reverand Jacob Mirsky. They raised a family of three boys and one girl; Bernie (d. July 4, 2003), George, Norman (d. July 23, 2015) and Frieda (Levitan) (d. May 6, 2009). Samuel Lesh came to Ottawa to join his sisters, Sarah (Futeral) and Becky (Lobel) who already lived in the Capital. Samuel Lesh was employed by the Canadian National Railways and once, when “let off”, he opened a corner store at 350 Booth Street. When “called back” by the railway, Mary Lesh continued to operate the store. She had always been a hard worker, starting at the age of 10 in Russia. Her formal education was limited. The Lesh family were members of the B'nai Jacob Congregation, Ottawa. Samuel Lesh was President of the B'nai Jacob Loan Society between 1929 and 1934 and Mary Lesh was a supporter of the “Uptown Ladies Auxiliary” of B'nai Jacob Congregation.
