Scope and Content
Materials in various media collected from recently immigrated Russian-speaking Jews. Documents, clippings, photos (435 prints and approximately 1500 digital, books, CDs of music, 14 hours of video interviews, 5 hours of audio cassettes. 39 CDs containing archival material, 1 original art work. Also the complete run of the newspaper Golos Obshiniye (Voice of Community), 1994-2004, with ongoing additions semi-weekly.

History / Biographical
Tatiana Jour is a Russian-speaking archivist born in Riga, trained in Moscow, and living in Montreal for the past eight years. For this project, she collected archival material and scanned items from the private collections of recent Jewish immigrants from Russia and the countries of the former Soviet Union. The project has received funding from Jewish Community Foundation of Montreal. Donors to the project include poets and writers, scientists, historians, publishers, musicians, graphic artists, Holocaust survivors. war veterans, and athletes. Most have immigrated here since 1991.

The collection was donated by Tatiana Jour. Received from January to October 2004.

The collection includes approximately 50 manuscripts of works written by Alexander Lyubman on the subject of the Second World War, Israel, and life in Canada. also prose publications and poems written as Alexander Lyubman, and also under his pseudonym Avrum Kravirora. The collection also contains press clippings, including one regarding an interview which he gave to a Russian newspaper in Montreal. There are 2 photographs of his daughters, and photocopies of portrait photographs of the donor. History / Biographical
Alexander Lyubman was born in Bershade (Ukraine) in 1949. In 1967, he completed his studies at a Medical College in Odessa, where he later taught. He was a deputy with regard to the reconstruction of a synagogue in the Ukraine. Soon after his immigration to Montreal, beginning in 2000 he worked as a medication consultant in a pharmacy. In his leisure time he was the leader of a chess club for Jewish children at JIAS Montreal. A writer of poetry and articles, he has been published in the local Russian Jewish newspaper 'The Voice of the Community'.

Lev Bilich was born on Nov. 10, 1926. He lived most of his life as an engineer in Odessa, Ukraine. His wife was a bookkeeper. They came to Canada in the 1990s, following their son. Lev Bilich died in Montreal on March 1, 2017.

The collection was donated by Lev Bilich on Sept 26, 2005. Lev Bilich made an addition to the collection on August 16, 2006

History / Biographical
Born in 1962 in St. Petersburg/ Leningrad, Mr. Zelikin came to Montreal, Canada in June 1980. He studied applied sciences at Vanier College and then Mechanical Engineering at Concordia University. As well as his work in the field of engineering he has tutored students in science and has done scientific and cultural translations to and from Russian into English and French.
