- William (Bill) Kahansky was born in Montreal, April 29, 1920, son of Nathan and Sarah Kahansky. He joined the Federal Civil Service in early 1937 and worked in Central Registry until the summer of 1941. He was also a Maccabean Athletic Association member. William joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in July 1941 and for the next two years worked as a Clerk Administrator. In July 1943, he began training as a Navigator and became a Flight Sergeant. He was posted overseas in 1944 and served in the United Kingdom for the next year. After the Second World War, he returned to work for the Federal Government. On August 7, 1960, William married Malca Davidson. After retirement, William and Malca joined the Volunteers for Israel Sar-El program in 1989 and 1990. William delivered a Remembrance Day speech to Machzikei Hadas Congregation each year from 1991 to 2005.
