- Notes
- 4 pages with a b&w identification photograph of Jakob Wiener stapled on the first page. Throughout the 4 pages there are 16 stamps with a Reichsadler in the middle, and 12 right of way (Passiererlaubnis) stamps. Narrative: The document stipulates that Jakob Wiener was born on December 3, 1907, in Krakow, Poland and that he was married and was a tailor. The official seal and signature of the police report date from March 30, 1941. The card was also stamped by the Jewish Community on June 3, 1941. The card was supposed to expire on March 3, 1941 but was renewed every month until October 3, 1942. For each renewal, there is a stamp of the Arbeitsamt Krakau (Employement Office of Krakow), a red stamp reading Passiererlaubnis (Permission) and a signature. After the ghetto was liquidated, Jakob and his wife were separated. Jakob was sent on a death march and was shot but didn't die. At the end of the war, he was liberated from the concentration camp in Ebensee. He then returned to Krakow where he reunited with his wife who had survived Auschwitz. In 1950, the family moved to France and waited for papers to immigrate to Canada or Australia. Because Canadian papers arrived first, the Jakob, his wife and their daughter Sara immigrated to Montreal.
