Notes
1 page, double-sided vertical paper, folded horizontally. Paper appears to have been torn off from a larger sheet of paper as left side is ragged. Recto contains handwriting of Mancika Mandula Weinberger. Signed and underlined name at bottom reads "Manci". Verso is blank. Narrative: Donor is Elaine Kalman Naves, daughter of Gustav and Anikó Weinberger. The card is in the handwriting of Mancika Mandula Weinberger (1910-1944) -- the first wife of Gustav Weinberger -- and is addressed to Gustav. Mancika was killed in Auschwitz in 1944. This letter was presumably from internal evidence (from Elaine Kalman Naves' notes). This collection of correspondence was used as part of the research for the following book: Kalman Naves, Elaine. Journey to Vaja: Reconstructing the World of a Hungarian-Jewish Family. Montreal: McGill-Queen's University Press, 1996. Print.
