History Biographical
The Dobrow family emigrated from Russia and arrived in Ottawa in August of 1921. The family included Fanny, her husband Abraham, one boy - Sol, and two girls - Esther (Solman) and Miriam (Goldstein) born in Rumania enroute from Russia to Canada.
The Dobrows stayed with the Weiner family initially. Abraham Dobrow was given a bushel of apples to sell and that initial action translated into an outdoor fruit and vegetable stall in the Byward market for all of his working life. By the spring of 1926, the Dobrows purchased their own home, a duplex at 495-497 St. Patrick.
They continued to prosper and purchase rental properties.
