- OBITUARIES: Telegraph Journal, January 15, 1975, Page 22 SMITH – After a period of failing health at Eastern Division Saint John General Hospital, on January 14, 1975, Norman Smith, husband of Fanny (Boyaner) Smith, of 111 Sydney Street; survived by his wife, one sister, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Resting at the Castle Funeral Home (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street from where the funeral will be held on Wednesday with service at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in Shaarei Zedek Cemetery. It has been requested by the family, that contributions be made to Hadassah WIZO Organization of Canada (672-1323). Memorial week will be observed at Orange Street. The Evening Times Globe Tuesday January 14, 1975 Illness claims Norman Smith Norman Smith, husband of Fanny (Boyaner) Smith, of 111 Sydney Street, died at the Eastern Division of the Saint John Regional Hospital on Tuesday after a period of failing health. Born in New York City, he was a son of the late Elias and Anna (Greenfield) Smith and had resided in Saint John for the past 50 years. He operated Norman’s Tobacco Store of King Street for a period of twenty years, retiring in 1970. During the Second World War, he served with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was a member of the Congregation Shaarei Zedek. Surviving besides his wife are a sister, Julia, Mrs. A. Ralph Isaacs of Saint John, and several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. The body is resting at the Castle Funeral Home, (Hillsley), 91 Leinster Street from where the funeral will be held on Wednesday with service at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in the Shaarei Zedek Cemetery.
